Story

March 29th is "Wear a hat day", in aid of Brain Tumour Research. Olivia and Harrison have asked RedHill Field Primary School to take part in this event to raise funds. The school have agreed to do this in memory of their dad who was taken by this disease at the end of October 2018. Olivia and Harrison would like you also to take part, to raise awareness of Brain Tumours by wearing a hat on Friday 29th March. Please take photos and share them here. If you could also donate that would be epic (words by Harrison!) Our story: Hello, I'm Olivia, age 11, and together with my Brother Harrison, age 8 (and a little help from Mummy!), we decided to set up this event so that you can all take part and help raise money for Brain tumour research, in memory of our daddy. It is really easy, just wear a hat, any type of hat, and donate a £1 (or more if you can) on March 29th. See, simple! Our daddy was diagnosed in March 2018 with 2 grade 4 glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), and was given 6-12 months to live. Sadly, he died on the 30th October 2018, not long after my 11th Birthday :( We remember daddy always being silly and trying to make us laugh. He also let us eat sweets (a lot) and sometimes let us have fizzy drinks! He would always take us to the shop to buy us our treats when he saw us! He loved to play on the computer with Harrison, and Harrison loved beating him at games! When Mummy told us daddy was poorly, we thought he would get better eventually, but he didn't. We were told he was going to die, no one knew when, but it happened so quickly, one minute he was daddy and we were playing at the park with him, the next we found him to be acting a bit weird. Mummy explained that it was to do with the tumours in his brain. These tumours took away the daddy we knew. When we were at the park in June 2018, he was still acting like daddy, he looked a bit different as he was bigger and we knew that was because of his medication, but he was still able to play with us. Then we visited him again and he wasn't daddy anymore, it was really upsetting. We know that many people go through this too, even children die because of brain tumours, so we want to do as much as we can to try and raise money so that one day they can find a cure and no one else will have to lose their daddy. Thanks for reading, and please share your photos of your hats! Olivia & Harrison xxx xxx
